Asia Pacific University MEXT Scholarship in Japan without IELTS

Language Proficiency

Those who want to apply must meet one of the following language standards in either English or Japanese:

• English
  • Can pass an English test with a score of at least B2 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) scale, such as TOEFL iBT 72 or above or IELTS 5.5 or above.

Eligibility Requirements

Intend to Study Abroad in Japan:

• You must have a clear intention to pursue your studies in Japan.

Nationality:

• You should not hold Japanese nationality.
• You must be a citizen of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan.

• You should be born on or after April 2, 1989.

Notes

• This grant is not open to people who are currently on active duty or who work for the military as civilians at the time of application.
• People who receive APUs must be able to get to Japan during the time frame set by APU.
• This scholarship is only for people who have never received a MEXT scholarship before and have been doing educational study for more than three years after the last payment of their previous MEXT scholarship.
• People who want this scholarship can’t also want another MEXT grant.
• People who get this scholarship can’t get another scholarship from a different group while they are at APU.
• People who get this grant must have a student visa and be able to live in Japan as a student.

Award

• The APU Tuition Reduction Scholarship pays for all of the tuition.
• 144,000 JPY a month to cover living costs (number may change)
• Flights in economy class from home country to APU at the start and end of the program

Documents Required:

• Form to apply for a scholarship from the Japanese government (MEXT).
• Plan for your field of study and research.
• Transcripts from both college and graduate schools that are official (originals or certified copies).
• Graduation certificate or provisional certificate from both bachelor and graduate schools (originals or certified copies).

• APU looks over the application materials and chooses the best candidates to send to MEXT.
• Applicants who are suggested for this scholarship are notified along with the results of their final APU application.
• Those who are chosen must fill out and send in more MEXT (SGU) application materials to APU.
• MEXT makes the final decision about who gets the grant.
