About the opportunities

Become a member of our team at Mercy Hospital for Women, a public hospital in Melbourne that specializes in tertiary care. We provide care for women who are pregnant with some of Victoria’s most difficult pregnancies. You will administer treatment to women who are pregnant with high-risk conditions, as well as those who undergo conventional birthing methods, such as home birth. One of Victoria’s only five neonatal critical care units, as well as an advanced gynaecology/oncology and urogynaecology program, are housed at Mercy Hospital for Women, a state-of-the-art facility.

Our facility is situated in the verdant Heidelberg district, 18 kilometers northeast of Melbourne’s Central Business District, and directly across from Heidelberg Train Station.

At present, we have a number of vacant positions and would be delighted to receive your response.

  • Registered nurse positions are accessible in the neonatal critical care unit, general gynecology units, specialty gynecology units, and perioperative services.
  • Registered midwife positions are available in emergency departments, birthing suites, postnatal/antenatal facilities, homebirth, and midwifery continuity of care models.
  • Option for full-time or part-time employment.
  • There are both permanent and fixed-term opportunities available.
  • In the event that successful candidates require visa sponsorship, it is feasible.
  • Salary in accordance with the Victorian Public Sector Enterprise Agreement (base hourly rate AUD $36.10 – $48.27 + allowances), with anticipated future improvements under this agreement.

To succeed in this position, you should also have

  • Register as a Registered Nurse or Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), or
  • Currently registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand or the Midwifery Council of New Zealand, and eligible for registration with AHPRA
  • It is recommended that a minimum of two years of clinical experience in the area of competence be obtained after completing a graduate year in nursing or midwifery. A dedication to neonatal-centered care and women
  • Capacity to effectively communicate with a diverse patient population and a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

You will also be asked to submit proof of, or in the process of getting

  • A working with minors check and a current police record check.
  • In accordance with public health requirements, a current COVID-19 certificate, proof of current influenza vaccination, and supplementary immunisation records are required.
