Required Capabilities and Experience:

A master’s degree in International Relations, International Development, Political or Social Sciences, Migration Studies, Law, or a related field from a recognized academic institution, with two years of relevant professional experience; or,

  • A university degree in the aforementioned fields, accompanied by four years of substantial professional experience.
  • Specialized writing and editing, with a preference for the universal development/humanitarian sector, are prerequisites for supporting results-based project development and announcements.
  • Allow administration for specific benefactors of IOM’s interest and engage in benefactor relations.
  • Demonstrated experience in the composition of donor reports in charitable and/or development environments; and,
  • Experience with the Results-Based Administration approach and other strategic planning methods.
  • Excellent organizational, compositional, and communication abilities;
  • Capacity to organize reports that are both concise and comprehensible
  • Fundamental information regarding methodologies, approaches, and concepts related to verifying and assessment;
  • Broad expository and organizational abilities;
  • The ability to establish working relationships with administrative specialists, national and international teachers, and non-governmental organizations;
  • The ability to supervise and prepare support staff;
  • Competence in collaborating effectively and harmoniously with counterparts from diverse societal backgrounds and cultures;

  • English, French, and Spanish are the official dialects of IOM. All staff members must possess proficiency in one of the three languages.
  • Proficiency in English is necessary for this position, including both written and spoken elements. Working knowledge of Somali is advantageous. The proficiency of the required language(s) will be particularly evaluated during the selection process, which may involve written and/or verbal assessments. Responsibilities of IOM Recruitment

  • Assist in the organization, coordination, execution, and supervision of extended events.
  • Compile, summarize, dissect, and present information/data on specific extended topics, emphasizing critical issues for the consideration of appropriate parties.
  • Assist the extended supervisor in monitoring the budget’s utilization and suggesting modifications as required.
  • Serve as the focal point for the authoritative coordination of venture execution, which includes maintaining extensive communication with external parties and various organizational units to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, and monitor regulatory activities.
  • Compose status reports; identify deficiencies in transportation, present them to the supervisor, and suggest solutions.
  • Prepare and revise reports, briefing notes, design, measurable tables, and other forms of documentation; draft correspondence regarding venture issues.
  • Plan to prepare materials and participate in the delivery of capacity-building seminars; organize gatherings, workshops, and preparation sessions.
  • Respond to intricate data requests and inquiries; establish and maintain files and records.
  • Engage in conferences and gatherings; maintain close communication and collaboration with local professionals and partners. Established partnerships with donors, non-governmental organizations, and country offices.
  • Supervise the activities of the actualizing accomplices and notify the supervisor of any noncompliance.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of Standard Operations Strategies (SOP) and concept papers, as well as provide general support for the enhancement of contemporary initiatives.
  • Offers assistance in the planning and observation of the work of other staff members within the unit, as well as guidance and training; may also administer other staff members as needed.
  • Fulfill any additional responsibilities that may be assigned.

  1. How long does it take for IOM to recruit?

    For positions of 3 to 9 months, which are subject to short-term vacancy announcements (SVN), the recruitment can take from 2 to 4 weeks. The recruitment procedure includes the Publication of vacancies (2 to 3 weeks) Screening of applicants.

  2. Can I work on the IOM?

    If you hold Settled Status issued in either the United Kingdom Channel Islands, you are free to move to the Isle of Man, and upon finding employment, a work permit would be required. If you do not hold “settled status,” you will require a visa to be employed on the Isle of Man.

  3. What are the requirements for IOM?

    a) Valid identification documents, which include: • Original passport • Alternative identity documents: certificate of identity and refugee travel document. b) Two passport-size photos. c) Proof of payment (deposit slip or transfer receipt).
